Vega One All-In-One Shake Review

We have shaken up and drank dozens of the Vega One All-In-One Shake across the last few weeks in the office to bring you the definitive, all questions answered review of one of Vega’s biggest-selling products.

So, without further ado, let’s get stuck in!

Overview

Vega has been a big player in the vegan supplement market since they were founded back in 2004. To date, they’ve launched products ranging from powders to bars, and continue to be one of the market leaders in Vegan supplements.

The Vega One All-In-One Shake comes in a range of different flavours (French Vanilla, Chocolate, Natural, Vanilla Chai, Berry, Mocha, Unsweetened Natural and Coconut Almond as of writing this review), with product sizes ranging from a pack with 10 servings, right up to an XL Tub containing approximately 45 servings.

For this review, we purchased an XL Tub of French Vanilla.

Nutrition

One scoop is the recommended serving amount of Vega One All-In-One Shake, which will give you 20 grams of protein straight off the bat. It contains 170 calories, 13 grams of carbohydrates and 5 grams of fat.

On top of that, the One All-In-One Shake provides an abundance of micronutrients, which is a huge plus. One scoop will give you at least 50% of your recommended daily amounts of Vitamins A, C, D, E and K.

It also contains good amounts of Calcium, Iron, Riboflavin and other micronutrients that are necessary to keep your body running at it’s best. Full nutritional info can be found by clicking here.

The protein itself is pea protein, with other ingredients such as flaxseed, organic broccoli and a bunch of other natural ingredients. One huge plus here is that one scoop contains probiotics, specifically 1 billion CFUs (colony forming units, i.e., viable cells) which is within the optimal range for a human to have a positive impact on your body.

If you struggle with coeliac disease or are sensitive to gluten, there’s even more good news – it’s completely gluten-free.

One unfortunate drawback of the Vega One All-In-One Shake, however, is that it is manufactured in a facility that also produces peanuts, dairy, soy, egg and tree nuts. This could be a big issue for a lot of consumers, so I thought it was worth mentioning in this review.

Nutrition Pros

  • 20g protein per serving
  • Good levels of micronutrients
  • Probiotics
  • Gluten free

Nutrition Cons

  • Manufactured near peanuts, dairy, soy, egg and tree nuts

Taste and Mixing

Right, let’s get into the nitty-gritty (but hopefully not too gritty) of it.

The first and most important test of any shake is its mixability. If a protein shake doesn’t mix well and leaves big lumps of protein in the shaker, then it’s failed in our eyes.

The first thing you’ll notice when opening the tub is the colour. It’s very green. As Vega state on their own website though, the colour comes from the organic ingredients and there are absolutely no artificial colours added to the product.

How Well Does It Mix?

Fortunately for Vega (and for us!), it mixed brilliantly. Our gurus mixed it with both water and with unsweetened oat milk from Oatly, and both resulted in a smooth shake. Well done Vega!

We actually found that it mixed better when we used just water, but if you’re averse to using just water, it should mix absolutely fine with any milk-substitute.

How Does it Taste?

We were reviewing the French Vanilla flavour of the Vega One All-In-One Shake, and were initially worried that the flavour would taste bland and boring.

Turns out it tastes great, and was (and still is) one of my favourite tasting shakes that I’ve ever tried. My personal preference was to mix it with oat milk, which really enhanced the taste and gave it a great oaty-vanilla flavour. Not overpowering, but not dull and bland either. It tastes natural and healthy, which is exactly the kind of thing you’d expect from a product such as this.

Some of the other gurus preferred it with water, so I’d recommend trying out both for yourself to see which option you prefer.

It does seem to mix a little bit better with water too, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Taste & Mixing Pros

  • Mixes great with water
  • Smooth consistency
  • Well balanced flavour

Taste & Mixing Cons

  • Doesn’t mix quite as well with oat milk

Price

There’s no sidestepping the fact that Vega One All-In-One Shake isn’t cheap. Compared to most powders on the market, it’s one of the more pricey choices.

The Vega One All-In-One Shake is a very well-rounded, premium option for those looking to supplement their lifestyle or use it as a meal replacement

Whilst it has its drawbacks, they are far outweighed by the huge benefits it brings if you’re serious about quality.

  • Probiotics
  • Mixes well
  • Gluten free
